Probably the Best Apple and Berry Crumble in the World!
Every family has their crumble recipe but trust me, once you try ours there is no going back, say hello to Probably the Best Apple and Berry Crumble in the World!
We combine Pink Lady Apples, Blackberries and Raspberries with a crisp oat topping to create our perfect crumble.
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Total time 1 hour 15 minutes
Feeds 4 people twice or 8 people once
Ingredients
18 Pink Lady Apples
300g Blackberries
300g Raspberries
1tsp of ground Cinnamon
1/2tsp Almond Extract
For the crumble top
150g of Butter
1/2 cup of Caster Sugar
3/4 cup of Brown Sugar
1 cup of Plain Flour
1 and 1/2 cups of Oats
Splash of Vanilla Extract
How to make:
1: Peel, core and chop the Apples into 1-2cm chunks, place in a large saucepan on a medium heat for 20-25 minutes, until the apples are sort but not puree, take off the heat and add the berries and Almond Extract.
2: While the Apples are cooking, place the butter (cube it) into a food processor with the other crumble top ingredients and whiz for 1-2 minutes until the mix is blended.
3: Place the Apple and Berry mix into the bottom of an oven dish, top with the crumble (do not pack the crumble, sprinkle it on) and use a fork to spread it out.
4: Pop in the oven on medium heat for 40-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the fruit mix is bubbling around the edges.
5: Remove and serve with Custard, Cream, Ice Cream or all 3
